Add rich umami flavor to your gourmet soups, sauces, and stir fries with these dried chanterelle mushrooms! Chanterelles became a favorite food of the French nobility in the 16th century, and they've been highly prized in gourmet kitchens ever since. These remarkable mushrooms are well known for their eye-catching golden color and distinctive trumpet shape with appealing, wavy cap edges. They boast a mild flavor with peppery notes and an appealing, fruity aroma similar to apricots. Best of all, these dried chanterelles have a richer, more concentrated flavor than fresh chanterelles, bringing a burst of umami richness to any recipe they're used in. Plus, when stored in an airtight container or under refrigeration, these mushrooms can keep for months or even years, unlike fresh chanterelles, which spoil quickly. To use these dried chanterelle mushrooms, gently rinse them with tap water to remove any impurities, then add them to a bowl and cover them with warm water. Allow the mushrooms to rehydrate in the warm water until they are soft and springy, approximately 20 minutes. Once they are fully rehydrated, give these mushrooms a squeeze to remove the excess water, then use as desired!
